Paddle Your Way on the Scenic Stones River

Murfreesboro’s greenway system includes seven greenway sections with 17 trailheads that provide access for a variety of outdoor activities. You’ll find wading, nature photography, picnicking, birdwatching, fishing, and many more things to do for individuals of all abilities. Three small watercraft launch points, two on the West Fork and one on the East Fork, give you access to the Stones River. Navigate tranquil waters via kayak or stand-up paddleboard, cast a fishing line in a secluded spot, or simply admire the wildlife and picturesque views.

Ready for some exhilarating water fun? In Murfreesboro, Boro Beach water park offers a plethora of activities to keep the whole family entertained. The fantastic waterslides, wave pool, and splash areas make it the perfect place to beat the summer heat. The Fountains at Gateway is a unique, interactive water experience that kids (and kids-at-heart!) will adore. Grab a bite at the newly opened PennePazze for lunch or dinner, followed by ice cream from The Sodabar and a fun day at the splash pad.

Splashy adventures await at Splashtown Swimming Pool and Splash Pad at the Smyrna Outdoor Adventure Center. From exhilarating water slides to a leisurely float in the pool, there is something for everyone to enjoy a day in the sun. You can also rent a boat, kayak or paddle boat for getting out on the water. Take a tip from the locals and reserve a funbrella ahead of time! These huge shade umbrellas with tables and chairs are available in 2-hour increments for small parties. The rental includes 20 Splash Town wristband entries for all ages (same-day reservations are not accepted).

Bring a picnic and cool off at the lively splash pad at Gregory Mill Park in Smyrna. Colorful water features are a fun experience for kids of all ages, with space to dodge and dash through exciting water arches, tunnels, and cascades. After enjoying the splash pad, you can retreat to the nearby picnic and rest areas. Spread out a blanket, have a delicious picnic lunch, and relax in the shade. The park provides a serene environment with beautiful trees and green spaces, allowing you to unwind and recharge before returning to more water play!

If you’re hungry, you can go by land or boat to Hoppy’s Harbor for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Sit inside or out on the deck to take in a view of the lake and boats, maybe even catch a great sunset.
