Have you ever wondered about the small blocks of marble marked only with a number in Stones River National Cemetery? They mark the burial sites of unidentified soldiers.
On Saturday, October 28 at 10AM and 2PM, Volunteer Interpreter Tom Zei will present “The Unknown Story”. His discussion will include the factors it takes to identify a fallen soldier in The Civil War and why having a name on a headstone is really the exception, not the rule.
Visitors will park near the visitor center and meet Tom at the walk-in gate to Stones River National Cemetery.
