Carpe Artista, local arts education non-profit is the host of the Smyrna Depot Farmers Market in partnership with the Town of Smyrna. The 2021 season opens May 22, 2021 and runs through September 18, 2021.
Scavenger Hunt: Bring out the family for a fun activity in the Depot District with a Market themed scavenger hunt. Find items and then post fun pictures of you and your family with items found on social media.
Vendor Spotlight: Each month we will have a new Vendor Spotlight. The vendor chosen that month will have a recipe featured in an ad with the Murfreesboro Pulse & on their social media platforms.
Cooking Demonstrations: Once a month we will hold live cooking demonstrations throughout the season. Each demonstration will be presented by a talented culinary student using a recipe featured from our Vendor Spotlight of the month. The recipes will use ingredients gathered from our vendors that are present. Each person who attends the demo will leave with a copy of the recipe.
Back to School Days: In past years we have had our vendors hand out school supplies to excited students returning to school for the year. We also have had a drawing for 2 fully stocked backpacks to give away for the new school year. We are excited to say that we will be doing that again this year close to the end of the season, before school starts!
End of Season Raffle: We will be gathering items from multiple vendors to put in a large gift basket. With a $15 donation to put your name into the drawing, one lucky person or family will go home with the basket at the end of the day. All the proceeds from the drawing will go back to Carpe Artista Arts Academy, to help continue molding young artists.
In Addition: There will be multiple Saturdays that the SOAC (Smyrna Outdoor Adventure Center) will be with us promoting their classes and events.
We have also partnered again with Nourish Food Bank to encourage community outreach through SDFM. NFB sends a volunteer to the market, at the end of the day, to gather donated produce and baked goods from the vendors. These donated items are then made available to families with limited resources.
