History of Eagleville

Eagleville was settled in 1790 when Tennessee was still part of North Carolina. Originally, the name was established as Manchester, but when the post office was built in 1836 the name was changed. Legend has it that a large eagle was found dead in the hills, thus the residents named their community Eagleville. With a population of 671, Eagleville is Rutherford County’s smallest incorporated city and boasts a small-town charm. Agriculture is the main industry.

Visit for the day and eat at one of the charming restaurants, visit the local antique stores, shop at the specialty soap shop or home furnishing boutique or spend the afternoon at the park. Welcome to Eagleville – where front porch rockers aren’t just for show!
