The weather is warming up, and as we’re getting back into the swing of things, Rutherford County is ready to welcome you back with our most quintessential Rutherford fun. From dazzling aerial maneuvers from the U.S.A.F. Thunderbirds to shopping and dining delights, get ready to make your summer spectacular with these favorite Smyrna experiences:

Great Tennessee Air Show

Back for a historic celebration, the Great Tennessee Air Show returns on June 5th – 6th.  This summer’s show marks the 50th anniversary of the air show at Smyrna Airport, and we’re proud to welcome the stunning Thunderbirds squadron and some of the most skilled air show performers in the world back to Rutherford County. Gates open at 8 a.m. and the show ends at 4:30 p.m. This year’s show is jam-packed with a ton of exciting events and performers. Featured aerial performers on the lineup include U.S. Special Operations Command Parachute Team, Quicksilver P51 Mustang, Mike Wiskus Lucas Oil, Mike Goulian, Ace Maker T-33, Rob Holland, Navy EA-18 Growler Demo, Navy F-35C Demo, and the U.S. Navy Legacy Flight featuring the F-35, EA-18G and F4U-4 Corsair. One of the county’s top events, this year’s show will feature a newly designed guest experience with limited capacity to ensure social distancing. Capacity is limited to allow for both safety and a more intimate experience. Tickets are available online now and must be purchased in advance. While you’re here, you can pay your respects to beloved Captain Jeff Kuss at the USMC Memorial. This is truly an unparalleled event that trains guests to keep their eyes on the skies.

Then grab your caffeine at Bella Vista Coffee Shop or Carpe Café and polish off your meal with ice cream from Janarty’s. And if your birthyear starts with a 19, slip on over to The Casual Pint for a summertime sipper sure to make your vacation feel even more chill.
